Recent research from UC-Irvine found that that black women and Asian men were least sought after by white men and women, who are the majority of online daters, but Asians, Latinos and black people were less likely to disqualify potential dates by their race. Adding extra proof that racism does exist in the world of online dating a report for online dating site OkCupid, by OkTrends found that black women members were more likely to reply to a first-contact message than any other ethnicity and gender group. Inversely, they were the least likely group to get a response back, from any ethnicity.
So is racism worse on free dating sites than one you have to pay for? It’s hard to prove, but the fact that many paid sites such as Parship have strict anti racism polices and that they vet each member, means you have added security which means will be less likely to be target of racial abuse on paid sites rather than the free ones like OkCupid. However there is no getting away from the statistics above and peoples personal preference no matter what sort of dating site you’re on.
