Adam Strange is a fictional superhero published by DC Comics. Created by editor Julius Schwartz with a costume designed by Murphy Anderson, he first appeared in Showcase #17 (November 1958).
In May 2011, Adam Strange placed 97th on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time.
This man liked to surf at the baech when he had extra times. That was one of his passion. Then suddenly this tragedy struck.
The shark, that attacked Mr Strange was possibly about four metres (14ft) long, then disappeared after police attempting to save him fired gunshots at the it. But police were not sure if they had hit it.
Pio Mose, who was fishing at the beach, told The New Zealand Herald he saw the swimmer struggle against the "huge" shark. He told him to swim to the rocks but Adam couldn't because of the distance, he raised his hands up suddenly he stopped shouting then went into the water with the shark and came out faced down. Then they realised he was dead.
Witness Stef McCallum, 18, said she saw a police officer go out in a surf lifesaving boat and fire "about 20" shots into the water at the shark.
"Everybody was evacuated from the water. Word of mouth, 'shark', and everybody left the water," she said.
Of late Adam said on his website that "he was researching some cool new post ideas and tricky camera techniques with some cutting edge new cameras. And was keen to shoot some more cars and bike scripts, some sports and exotic location boards and some 3d and fx filims which he was to put in action".
On his website he said: "When I get a spare 5 minutes, I like to … surf some big waves out on the West Coast, point my skis down a mountain ... haul my mountain bike up and down a few hills, drink some Pinot while scratching away at a film script … "
